Showcase: American Civil War 22nd Louisiana Infantry

Another unit for my own collection of American Civil War units.

We're currently running a Longstreet campaign in which in between games it may well happen that new regiments get sent to the players' brigades. After our last game I had this happen to me, which is a good thing. For this new unit I wanted to have another look than on the units I already owned.

The Perrys plastics are really nice, but I was in the mood to invest in a proper metal regiment. Of course I went with Perry Miniatures again, because their ACW range is just so vast and I'm really happy with the quality of the sculpts and casting.

So I went with Early Confederates in Havelocks and Shirts. Originally thought to be a useful protection against the sun the havelock in this shape/material wasn't a very useful thing for war in the US and the use of them was stopped early in the war.

Still, well-meaning ladies, sisters, mothers, wives, grandmothers, etc. often especially made such kit for the boys from their town. In the field these usually quickly got discarded very soon or were repurposed as coffee filters, musket cleaning rags or for a handkerchief.

The gentlemen in the photos know better though: Because when returning home after the won war you sure want to have a positive answer when aunt Mary asks where the lovingly made hat-wear was, or else...

I didn't have much time to work on these figures, but they're battle-ready now. Hope you like them!
