All the best from Battle Brush Studios. :-)

Showcase: Van Saar Grav-Cutters and Archeotecs

Here's a bit of an addition to the Van Saars gang I did a while ago. Van Saars got a remarkable expansion box, featuring loads of tech other gangs could only dream of - Grav-Cutters and Acheoteks.

As before, I used several parts from the Forgeworld upgrade blisters and from the prior gang box (which is really good) to make the figures a bit more dynamic. Which is pretty tough with the Archeoteks actually.

I hope that you like them chaps and chapettes!

Review: Empress Miniatures WW2 Germans

Heyhey, it's been a while since the last WW2 figures review. So let's take a quick look at Empress' WW2 Late War / Volksgrenadier Germans!

Showcase: Stone Guardians, Knight Artorias and Sif!

Heyhey, here's more Dark Souls figures! Knight Artorias, one of the fan favourites due to his tragic backstory and his good doggo, who picked up his master's sword to  guard his grave and be one hard as nails boss in Dark Souls - Geat Wolf Sif.

The GREAT Wargaming Survey 2022!

Heyhey, it's time again for the 2022 installment of the Great Wargaming Survey. For many years now, Wargames, Soldiers and Strategy magazine would like to know about your wargaming preferences and opinions, so we all get a nice look at some trends and developments in the wargaming world.

Each participant gets a discount code for a purchase at Karawansaray Publishing's website and a handful of free PDF articles from past issues of WSS magazine. If you choose to supply an e-mail adress as well you can take part in a prize draw.

It's a good thing and in the past led to some very interesting insights. Give it a shot and tell your friends. The wider a group they reach, the more conclusive the results are.

Showcase: 10mm League of Augsburg

I painted Pendraken Miniatures' League of Augsburg range for their web store. That was quite an experience. Here's why:
.) Pendraken's LoA range is beautiful.
.) All uniforms are based on actual regiments.
.) There is an amazing number of command figures in this range, and late 17th century commanders are just fun to paint.

For the full extent of the range, have a look at Pendraken's online store!

Some modern/sci-fi terrain this time. All MDF, by Micro Art Studio, three fast food stalls.

Showcase: Super Dungeon Explore Pt. 33

Look at them! Just look. There is no reason not to love Super Dungeon Explore figures. :D Tricky to paint, but it's very much worth putting the hours in. Proper big too. Those are 25mm bases.

Hope you like them as well!

Showcase: 14th Dragoons and Lord Cumberland

Here's a little detour into the middle of the 18th century. More exactly the Jacobite Uprising in 1745. This is a small unit of the 14th Dragoons, along with Lord Cumberland (and his personal drummer).

These 28mm figures are by Flags of War. Obviously known for producing fine, fine paper flags for wargamers, but they also produce a range of 28mm figures specifically for this conflict. Which is something I appreciate a lot.

All the better that these figures are really, really pretty and excellently cast. Tip top quality and certainly worth a look.

The Cumberland figure is by Warlord Games and comes with two hand options - a staff or a big glass of brandy. I was told to use the former on this figure. Still, he cuts an impressive figure.

I wasn't allowed to base these chaps, but tried to circumvent that by taking the above scenic shots. Which involved a LOT of figures falling over and me cursing a lot. :-P Hope you like the figures!

Showcase: Nova Aetas Expansion

Heyhey, some boardgames figures again. Remember the Nova Aetas set I painted a few years ago? Well, here's a bunch of figures from an expansion for that! Loads of cultists, some characters and four big, big cyclops...i? Cyclopses?

They're all single-pose so I made some effort to make them look a bit different to one another. If we got such big individuals you gotta make them look a bit different somehow.

Hope you like them!

Showcase: French Warband for Silver Bayonet

Silver Bayonet is a rather interesting thing, isn't it? It's basically a honeypot to lure unsuspecting Fantasy gamers into the Napoelonic period.

Showcase: Entrenchments, Mine Field

Just a little something I made for 28mm WW2 wargaming - three sections of entrenchments and a minefield. Oh, and a medic as a little bonus.

Showcase: Ebony Maw and Black Dwarf

Another little bit of Marvel: Crisis Protocol goodness! Or evilness rather. Here's Ebony Maw and Black Dwarf!

As always with this range, these are rather big figures. The general size is 35mm, but of course these two tower over lowly Earthlings.

Black Maw is just a sinister looking dude. Black Dwarf was a really interesting mix of organic and metallic parts. On this collection of Marvel figures I'm going 99% NMM, which led to a very attractive looking result on a rather unattractive fellow (if we apply traditional beauty standards).

Hope you like them!

Showcase: 25mm Minifigs Polish Lancers

Heyhey. It's summer, and we're going a bit old-school again. Not that these two facts have anything to do with each other, but you gotta have some sort of introduction, right?

Showcase: Snow Troopers!

Finally got to paint some Star Wars Legion figures! You can see some Snow Troopers with support.
Tricky fellas to paint, since they're all white. But with a little artistic license and many different shades of white/cream/eggshell/unbleached wool/etc. I think I got a look that works even on a snowy table.

Taking pictures against a white background of course was the ultimate test. ;-) Hope you like them!

Showcase: Thanos!

Here's the biggest of the bad and the baddest of the big - it's Thanos! And the only thing bigger than him: his comfy chair!

All joking aside though, this one's a big'un. All plastic, all from the Marvel: Crisis Protocol range, and pretty impressive. Fun to paint too!

Hope you like him!

Showcase: Napoleonic Austrians!

Particularly animated ones at that as well! These are Austrian line infantry including command and a sapper, based for skirmish games such as Chosen Men.

If these here look familiar to you - you may have seen them in the Napoloenic supplement for the excellent Muskets&Tomahawks (2nd edition) rules.

I greatly enjoy painting Napoleonic Austrian infantry. In a few weeks time I'll show you my own (also for skirmish gaming, incidently).

Hope you like them!

Show Report: 1. Tabletop Gameday Sigmundsherberg

Aaaye, it's been a while since we've done one of those, right? The simple reason being that I hadn't been at any shows in more than two and a half years due to the Covid.

At some point though it was time to dust off the wargaming show stuff and get back out there, and what better occasion than 1. Tabletop Gameday Sigmundsherberg.
